1. TELL US YOUR FIRST KITCHEN MEMORY
MT: One of my first memories of the kitchen was being in my grandmother’s house in France. She cooking crepes and saying, “Dip, dip, dip.” It means eat, eat, eat. My first professional memory was when I was eleven. My parents had just opened Chez Fernand and I was on dish duty. I was there until 2:00 am washing dishes. What a night.
AT: My first memories in the kitchen were of my brothers and I making Christmas cookies. With five us, there was a lot of flour!
2. DESCRIBE YOUR PASSION FOR FOOD / WINE
MT: At three years old, like most children, I was consistently playing with my Mom’s pots and pans, and well, I have never left the kitchen!
3. WHO IS YOUR FOOD HERO OR HEROINE?
MT: My mother – for all the work that she would do at the restaurant and then returning home to cook for me.
AT: My parents. I get the appreciation for baking and everything sweet from my dad. He would lead the Christmas cookie brigade. And from my mom, I have the talent for making what Michel has now dubbed “family meal.”
4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
MT: Food that doesn’t lie to you and food that tells a story in itself.
AT: I may not be a philosophical as Michel, but my favorite meal – is steamed crabs, cold beer and roast beef sandwiches with tomato and corn.
5. WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING / UNUSUAL / MEMORABLE / ROMANTIC THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED AT YOUR RESTAURANT?
MT: During the 1998 World Cup, France and Italy were playing in the final. We had a big screen tv at the restaurant and when France won the World Cup everyone was singing and dancing. People who had never met before had become best friends. I think there were only four people that were French, but we had a great time.
AT: We have a lot of special and romantic moments that have taken place at Tersiguel’s including many engagements. I always enjoy it when we know in advance, it makes watching very nervous gentleman, very exciting.
6. (optional) HOW DID YOU MEET? WAS IT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT?
MT: We met at First Union bank seven years ago. All I remember is Angie’s big smile.
AT: O-kay, yes that was the first time we met, but truthfully, I wasn’t really convinced we’d every see each other again. So, realistically speaking, we re-met, when I started working for the Tersiguel’s seven years ago. For me, it was love at first sight. And well, we did finally get there.
